Elite Welding & Fabrication: The Conroe Owner’s Guide

We stock and install welding and fabrication parts for Elite gate operators across Conroe, with most welded bracket repairs and reinforcement jobs running $180 to $450 installed, depending on the steel gauge, access to the hinge post, and whether we’re repairing the existing weld or fabricating a new mount. A technician can usually be on-site the same day when the gate is stuck open or sagging.

Most Conroe owners discover the problem the hard way: a gate that dragged for months suddenly drops, or the operator pushes against a bracket that has cracked clean through at the weld. By the time we arrive, the gate is usually resting on the ground or wedged against the driveway. The weld was the weak point all along, and Texas humidity plus years of cycle stress finally finished it.

Which Elite Models This Applies To

Elite swing and slide gate operators use steel mounting brackets, hinge plates, and weld-on tabs that differ across their SL-3000, SL-5000, and CSW-200 series lines. The slide gate models take a heavier rack-mount bracket with slotted holes, while the swing arm models use a tapered pivot plate that most aftermarket fabricators get wrong on radius. If you have an Elite operator, the model number is on a silver tag inside the control box cover, and the bracket we need to match will be underneath the operator itself or bolted to the gate frame.

For Elite specifically, we lean toward fabricating replacement brackets from 3/16-inch or 1/4-inch steel plate rather than ordering OEM stamped parts. The factory brackets are adequate, but on a heavy gate in Conroe’s clay soil, we regularly see them flex at the bend points. A fabricated bracket with gussets costs about the same as OEM and outlasts it. That said, if your gate is light and the factory bracket is still available, we’ll quote both options and let you decide.

We’re an independent service provider. We stock Elite parts and work on Elite operators every week, but we do not represent Elite.

Signs Your Elite Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

Signs Your Elite Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
  • The gate sags toward the latch side. The hinge weld has stretched or cracked, and the gate leaf is now heavier on one corner than the hinge post was built to carry. We see this most often on 10-foot and wider gates near Teas Lakes where the wind loads are constant.
  • The operator hums but the gate barely moves. The mounting bracket has shifted or broken, so the motor is pushing against nothing solid. The arm or chain is flexing instead of transferring force to the gate.
  • You hear a sharp crack when the gate opens or closes. That’s the sound of a cold weld letting go. It doesn’t always mean the gate falls immediately, but it means the bracket is now load-bearing on one side only.
  • The gate scrapes the driveway or the track. The hinge post may still be solid, but the bracket that holds the bottom pivot has wallowed out its bolt holes or cracked at the plate edge.
  • Rust bleed runs down from any bracket or weld point. Conroe humidity works into micro-cracks at the weld, and once oxidation starts inside the joint, the weld is failing from the inside out. This is the one we tell people to check after every wet winter.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s the honest price breakdown for Elite welding and fabrication work in Conroe:

  • Straight weld repair on an existing bracket: $180 to $260, including grinding, re-welding, and a zinc-rich primer coat.
  • Fabricated steel replacement bracket, installed: $280 to $420, depending on steel thickness, gussets, and whether we need to remove the gate leaf to get a clean weld position.
  • Hinge post reinforcement (welded sleeve or new weld-on hinge plates): $350 to $550, including removal of the old hinge hardware and realignment.
  • Full gate frame reinforcement and bracket rebuild: $600 to $900, most common on gates that have already been welded once by someone else and failed again.

The price is written before we touch anything. You’ll know exactly what the job costs, and it won’t change unless we uncover a structural problem we couldn’t see from the outset, in which case we stop, show you what we found, and get your approval before adding a dollar. Our welding and fabrication work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the weld or bracket fails within a year, we come back and make it right at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things before you call. Look at the bracket for visible cracks, check whether the gate is level when closed, and push on the gate by hand to see if the post flexes. Those observations help us quote correctly over the phone.

What you should not do is weld it yourself. Welding a gate bracket that holds a 300 to 800 pound moving leaf is not a beginner’s job, and a weld that looks fine on the surface can fail catastrophically because there was no root penetration. We’ve repaired more homeowner welds in Conroe than we can count, and they almost always cost more to fix than the original job would have cost done correctly. If the bracket is cracked, call (936) 297-5126 and let us handle it.
